What This Part Is

John Deere T82356 is the steel separator disc used in the steering clutch pack of G-series John Deere crawler dozers and loaders. In a steering clutch, plain steel discs are stacked alternately with friction discs; the steel discs are the separators that the friction discs grip against. T82356 is one of those steel separator discs. It is not the friction disc and it is not a brake disc.

How It Works With The Friction Disc

T82356 steel discs run alternately with T82355 friction discs (the friction disc also crosses to T211817) to form the steering clutch stack on each final drive. Each side typically uses about 6 or 7 steel discs with their mating friction discs. When the clutch is applied, the stack locks and drives that track; when released, the stack slips so the machine can turn. Because the steel and friction discs wear together, a steering clutch is normally rebuilt with a complete fresh set of both on each side.

Fitment

This steel steering clutch disc fits John Deere crawler dozers 450G, 550G and 650G and crawler loaders 455G and 555G. It is also used on the 450E, 455E, 550B and 555B units built after serial number 726647. Because steering clutch contents changed across serial breaks, confirm the fit by matching both your model and your serial number to the John Deere parts catalog before ordering.

What's Included

One new aftermarket steel separator disc. This listing ships a single disc. A steering clutch rebuild uses several steel discs plus the matching friction discs per side, on both sides of the machine, so order the quantity your specific clutch configuration calls for.

Cross Reference

This is the steel disc carried under John Deere number T82356. It pairs with the T82355 friction disc (also found as T211817). No fabricated "-A" variant of T82356 exists; order by T82356.

Ordering Guidance

Replace the steering clutch discs when a machine steers poorly, when one track slips or will not drive, or when the clutch drags and will not release. Count the steel and friction discs in your pack, confirm your model and serial, and order T82356 steel discs together with T82355 friction discs in the quantities your clutch stack requires.
