What This Is
This is a seal and O-ring rebuild kit for the power steering cylinder on Ford and New Holland 2WD (two wheel drive) front axle tractors. It is not a complete cylinder. The kit supplies the rubber and composite sealing rings and O-rings needed to reseal one existing steering cylinder, which is the common fix when the cylinder starts to weep steering fluid, loses assist, or leaks down after the engine is shut off. Reusing the original cylinder body with fresh seals is the economical repair.
Fitment
The kit fits the 2WD front axle steering cylinder used on Ford and New Holland 10 series and 40 series tractors, including 5610, 6610, 7610, 7810 and 5900, plus 5640, 6640, 7740 and 7840, and the later TS series TS90, TS100 and TS110. It is built for the 7/8 inch diameter cylinder rod on these models. It does not fit the mechanical front wheel drive (MFWD) or 4WD front axle cylinder, which uses a different kit. If your tractor has a driven front axle, this is not the correct kit. Some supplier catalogs also list 8240 for this family; confirm against your cylinder before ordering.
