This half-moon shaped Woodruff key is a standard imperial fastener used to lock gears, pulleys, and hubs to rotating shafts in agricultural equipment, construction equipment, lawn and garden machinery, and general industrial applications. Seated in a curved keyseat milled into the shaft, the key prevents independent rotation between the shaft and the mounted component while also acting as a designed fail-safe that protects more expensive parts from shear damage.
