This aftermarket replacement pulley and spring assembly is a key component of the recoil starter system on Fits Briggs and Stratton small gasoline engines. Housed inside the recoil starter, the pulley winds the starter rope and the rewind spring tensions it, allowing the rope to retract smoothly after each pull start. When the rope is pulled, the spring stores energy and retracts the rope back onto the pulley.
