One New Aftermarket Replacement Electrical Resistor for Ford (Ford/New Holland) 2N, 8N, and 9N Tractors
This ignition ballast resistor installs in the wire between the ignition switch and the coil on Ford tractors that have been converted to 12-volt electrical systems. The resistor reduces voltage from 12 volts to the 6-volt level required by the original ignition coil and points, preventing premature coil and point failure. It is a resistor-only part with no mounting block included, and is commonly used in alternator conversion kits on Ford 2N, 8N, and 9N tractors built from 1939 to 1950. Fits models equipped with a front-mount distributor.
Critical Installation Note: Must use resistor in wire between ignition switch and coil to prevent burning up points or coil.
