This piston pin retainer (also known as a wrist pin retainer or snap ring) secures the piston pin within the piston bore, preventing lateral movement and keeping the connecting rod assembly properly aligned in the Caterpillar C7 engine. It is an internal-type retainer used in the piston and rod group during engine overhaul and rebuild procedures. Sold individually; two retainers are required per cylinder.
