This 1"-14 fine-thread slotted hex nut (also known as a castellated nut) is a standard hardware fastener used across a wide range of agricultural, construction, and lawn and garden equipment. Slotted hex nuts feature opposed slots cut through the top of the nut, allowing a cotter pin to be inserted through a drilled bolt shank to lock the nut in place and prevent loosening under vibration or operational stress -- a critical requirement on spindles, axles, tie rods, wheel hubs, and other high-load rotating assemblies.
