This drive axle planetary pinion gear (also called a planetary spur gear) is a precision drivetrain component used in the planetary carrier assembly of Rockwell, Meritor, and AxleTech heavy-duty axles. The planetary gear set transmits torque from the axle shaft through the hub reduction, and a worn or damaged pinion gear can cause excessive noise, heat, or drivetrain failure.
